Japan, March 2011: A Moment of Reflection

Yasu Susuka, professor of photography at Kyoto University of Art and Design,  offers the following photo video as an offering of peace to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan.  Susuka shot the hands of 150 Buddhist priests in prayer for this project.

    Thanks to you and Suzuka-sensei for this exquisite prayer. I had been thinking about his long term photographic pilgrimage to document Japan’s coastlines. I was imagining how sad he must feel, but also I was feeling the increasing importance of all the work he has done. Please express my appreciation to him.
