He played a central role in Japanese architecture and design as it was becoming especially prominent, internationally. Kuramata may be best known for creating some of the world’s most iconic furniture. The actual work discussed in the video, the Kiyotomo Sushi Bar restaurant in Tokyo built in 1988, has been acquired by M+ Museum of Visual Culture in Hong Kong as a part of their design collection.
