Overlooked gems in Japan as seen through the eyes of artist Gail Rieke

by Gail Rieke,  Japan Living Arts, artist-at-large

A joy like none other…
returning to Japan over and over…
camera in hand…
eyes and heart wide open

a stroll down Teramchi Street in Kyoto…
collage of asking for blessing

the collaboration of people and nature
paints masterpieces on the walls…

Kanazawa… the whole town seems asleep
as the sun arises…
the shine of after rain…

fall bouquets of hue
and an inscrutable palimpsest of messages

an abandoned mining town
made to live again

catching this moment of light and shadow

My dreams are full of these images.
I am honored to share them with you.

  3. Althea Brimm says:

I don’t need supper now after that feast!
Such wonderful textures, subtle colors & marvelous
patterns set up mostly by time, weather & the artist’s eye.
    Thank you, Gail & Steve
